For the inaugural feature on my new feature page, I have composed this
little ditty that almost anybody can sing. If you can produce an overtone
series above a steady fundamental, you can do this. Whether you do the
"Eastern" or "Western" style, this will work fine;
in fact it might be a little better with throatsinging since the fundamental
is constant.
There are two versions in mp3 format. (version
One) and (version Two)
In the first, you can sing along with me and get a feel for the progression.
Then, when you're ready, move on to the second in which my voice has been
deleted, so you can sing it by yourself with the accompaniment. You can
also improvise new verses if you want to, utilizing your preferred ranges,
techniques, etc.
There is a short Intro followed by three identical verses and a Coda.
Watch out! The song is not in perfectly square 4/4 time - there are interpolations
of 2/4 in each phrase. You'll get it after a couple of listenings.
Please let me know if you give these a try. If there is interest, I have
several other songs in mind in a variety of styles. Enjoy!
