WORKSHOPS
AND LECTURES
Workshop:
Introduction to Harmonic Singing
Dr. Stuart Hinds
Harmonic singing, or overtone singing, is becoming
more popular all over the world. People are attracted to harmonic
singing for a variety of purposes: as a focus for meditation, as
a technique for relaxation and healing, as a means for spiritual
expression or metaphysical communion, as a way of appreciating the
music of different world cultures, and particularly for the sheer
musical joy and personal expression. These benefits apply at all
skill levels; virtuosity is not required. Even beginners can experience
the power of harmonic singing.
As a participant in the workshop, you will learn
the basic techniques to get you started on your path. Each participant
will receive personalized attention from the instructor and engage
in group singing activities. This is not a lecture – come
prepared to sing! Anyone can do this – with an open mind you
cannot fail. You will leave feeling better that when you arrived,
and you will be able to re-create that feeling on your own, anytime.
Stuart Hinds has presented concerts, lecture-demonstrations,
and workshops throughout the U.S. and in Canada, Germany, and Austria.
He practices and teaches a harmonic singing technique that is entirely
consistent with proper, safe vocal production as taught by teachers
of traditional singing. For more information and to hear sound files
